Many people have asked me why I started this program so I would like to share my story. My brother, Nuno Tavares is my personal hero, and he gave me inspiration to give back to our local heroes. Nuno has been in law enforcement since his early 20's. Being just a teenager at that time, I was so proud of him and the career path that he chose.
Through the years, I've seen the endless hours, selflessness and sacrifices that he and his colleagues have made for their families and communities. As I attended and served at local nonprofit events, I met even more incredible local heroes outside of law enforcement as well. Especially in the recent years, I've personally seen friends who are front-line workers struggle with the many challenges they've faced, and I felt like I wanted to do something to show how thankful I am for their sacrifices. Our military and veterans deserve all the love and support, as do our first responders, healthcare workers and educators, and I'm thrilled to help all of them through their journeys as well.
I've always had a passion for helping people, but something was really pulling at my heart to do something for the people that sacrifice so much for our community. After a few years and several conversations with Nuno and other people in my support system, I decided to launch Homes to Heroes on February 26, 2022. Utilizing my real estate profession, I figured out a way that I can truly give back. By sharing a large portion of my commission, my goal is to make a difference in helping people with their real estate needs. I'm so excited to watch this program grow and to have the opportunity to help as many people as possible.
Thank you,
Melanie Cregar - Founder of Homes to Heroes
